John Marcus O’Sullivan Conference

The John Marcus O’Sullivan Conference aims to address issues pertaining to the distinctive role of publicly managed schools in relation to notions of moral education, citizenship and belonging by providing an opportunity for debate, discussion and learning on the distinctive contribution of publicly managed schools within an ever more diverse Ireland.

This Conference continues a tradition established by Kerry VEC in the 1970’s, to commemorate the memory of John Marcus O’Sullivan, at one time a Professor of History, who was the Minister for Education from 1927 to 1932, and the Minister who steered the Vocational Education Act, 1930, into law. The 2015 event is organised by ETBI in collaboration with the Department of Education and Professional Studies, University of Limerick, Kerry ETB and Dublin & Dun Laoghaire ETB.
