Go Raibh Maith Agaibh to our school communities on #GRMA Day

#GRMA Day - Friday 11 December 2020

In a showing of national solidarity and appreciation, please take time to say thanks and go raibh maith agaibh to our school communities on Friday 11 December 2020 #GRMA Day.

Join us in saying thanks to our school leaders, teachers, SNAs, secretarial staff, other resource teachers, custodial services, student leaders and mentors, and all involved in the huge efforts to ensure our children are safe and cared for as they enjoy their day at school.

To acknowledge and celebrate the work being done in our school communities in maintaining a safe environment in which our children can enjoy attending school, it is proposed to set aside a day in which all of us can join together to say ‘go raibh maith agaibh!’ or #GRMA!

On #GRMA Day we propose that all schools take 10 minutes, perhaps an extended ‘sos beag’, to pause and broadcast a video collage being prepared to say thank you from the whole country. This special break in an otherwise busy school day should also allow time for students to acknowledge those who work so hard in our schools, as well as a chance for leaders and teachers to thank the students for their ongoing efforts in abiding by the safety protocols, some of which are challenging.

An Taoiseach has agreed to lead a day of national celebration, permission has been secured to have the Defence Forces across the country involved in acknowledging the work of our schools in keeping our children safe. The Services of the Defence Forces in the Air, Land and Sea will pay a unique tribute to underline the heroic nature of the colossal efforts to maintain the safety and wellbeing of students all over the country.
